Great West Welcomes Levi Howell

We are pleased to announce that Levi Howell has joined the Great West Engineering team as a Project Manager in our Boise, Idaho office. With over 11 years of experience in civil engineering, Levi specializes in water and wastewater systems, as well as general municipal engineering. He earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Montana State University and began his career with Great West’s Transportation group in our Helena office before relocating to Idaho with his wife, Erin. We’re excited to welcome him back as part of our growing Idaho Municipal Group.

Levi began his career in transportation engineering, gaining a strong foundation in technical calculations and learning how state agencies collaborate with consultants. Early on, he had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects for diverse clients, which sparked his interest in water and sewer infrastructure. He soon found himself leading large, complex linear pipe projects, experiences that deepened his interest in municipal systems. This shift led to a focus on city engineering, where he learned from experienced mentors and public works staff how local water and sewer systems truly function. Many of these utility projects included transportation elements, bringing his career full circle. This diverse background has given Levi a well-rounded perspective and the ability to navigate the unique challenges that each community faces.

Recent News

Levi is passionate about helping Idaho communities bring their projects to life by building strong relationships and working collaboratively with local leaders. Over the past 11 years, he has developed an impressive portfolio of work. While each project has played a role in shaping his career, the ones he finds most meaningful are those that serve as cornerstones in the communities they support. A few of his favorite projects include:

Nampa’s Midway Sports Park and Huckleberry Dog Park

Levi worked with staff at Nampa Parks to complete the civil design and construction of two of Nampa’s newest parks. Midway Park included the development of 52 acres of land into a regional sports facility and gathering place for families. Huckleberry Dog Park included 11 acres of a well-planned community amenity allowing off-leash enjoyment for dog owners. Both projects required creative solutions to unique challenges but resulted in areas for families to enjoy and to recreate.

Eagle Sewer District Effluent Force Main

Eagle Sewer DistrictThe 24” sewer force main traverses 4 miles of some of the most heavily trafficked and populated areas in Idaho. The project challenges included wetlands, three water crossings, and construction and coordination with almost every state agency. This project was completed on time and within budget showing the power of relationship building, communication, and creative engineering solutions.

Levi is excited to join the Great West Engineering Team and help build on an already outstanding firm that values relationships, quality engineering, and adding to the ever-growing Idaho communities.
